Our Short-Term Rehabilitation Program supports people who no longer require acute hospital care but are not yet ready to go home. This is a great opportunity for Mariposa County residents, as they can continue their recovery, close to home, right here at John C. Fremont Healthcare District.

Medicare Certified
After a qualifying three-day inpatient hospital stay, Medicare allows us to provide this program. It is for patients who need additional inpatient care after recovering from a serious illness, surgery or injury, even when the initial care was provided at a different hospital.

We treat patients recovering from conditions including:
• COPD
• Stroke
• Heart attack
• Joint replacement
• Complex wounds, fractures and surgeries
• Severe infection requiring frequent antibiotic treatment
• Physical deconditioning causing risk of falling

Our team is here 24/7 to provide expert recovery care that goes beyond what is typically offered in skilled nursing facilities.

When considering treatment options as your hospital stay concludes, ask questions to compare programs:

• Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 - Higher nurse to patient ratios allow for closer monitoring & frequent assessment of patients’ conditions

• On-site inpatient pharmacy - Managing medication distribution in-house allows for more timely delivery to patients

• On-site X-ray, CT, MRI - No need to leave the premises for imaging exams

• On-site laboratory - Rapid turnaround of patient test results delivered electronically to medical records

• On-site emergency room - 24-hr standby emergency medicine physician

• On-site 24-hour respiratory therapist - Respiratory therapists available to treat acute and chronic pulmonary conditions

• On-site internal medicine physicians 7 days/wk - Timely assessment and ordering of treatments
