Financial Counselor / Customer Service Representative – Part-Time
Location: Mariposa, California – On the Cusp of Yosemite National Park

Position: Financial Counselor/Customer Service Representative
Part-Time - 20 hours weekly
Department: Patient Accounting

Job Summary:
• Meet with patients in person or by phone to explain
insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and payment
options.
• Aid with financial assistance programs, including
eligibility screening and application support.
• Respond to incoming patient billing inquiries and resolve
concerns regarding statements or account balances.
• Accurately document all patient communications and
maintain up-to-date records in the billing system.
• Collaborate with the billing department and other internal
teams to resolve insurance or payment issues.
• Set up payment plans according to district policies and
follow up on outstanding balances.
• Educate patients on their rights and responsibilities
regarding healthcare coverage and payment.
• Posting and reconciling patient payments.
• Always uphold HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.
Essential Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with electronic health record systems
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare billing, customer service, or financial counseling.
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance processes.
• Familiarity with financial assistance programs and hospital billing procedures.
