Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Department: Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
Shift: Day Shift, 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM & Mid-Shift, 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Job Summary:
o Under licensed nursing supervision, provide care to older residents in the skilled nursing facility:
o Assist residents in performing activities of daily living.
o Provide bedside care and assist in the treatment of patients.
o Maintain residents’ baseline health and encourage rehabilitation by providing ordered range of motion and exercise programs
o Monitor for and report changes in resident presentation.
o Participate in the development of residents’ plans of care
o Maintain and operate hospital and nursing equipment.
o Work independently on routine assignments and consult with charge nurse or Director of Nursing on non-routine assignments.
o May be assigned to other nursing departments as needed.
Essential Skills:
o Understanding of basic medical terminology.
o Knowledge of principles of bedside care, including bathing and feeding residents.
o Ability to accurately take and record vital signs, weights, and measures, and maintain concise records.
o Accurate documentation of patient records.
o Ability to understand and follow written, oral, and graphic instructions.
o Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, safety rules, and operating manuals.
o Effective communication skills for interacting with residents, visitors, and staff.
o Compliance with infection control and asepsis procedures.
o Knowledge of med-surg and SNF equipment, supplies, and instruments.
o Professional and positive interaction with the public.
o Proper body mechanics to prevent injury.
o Ability to maintain effective work relationships and provide compassionate care.
o Maintaining confidentiality and preserving residents’ rights.
o Meeting residents' psychosocial, emotional, and physical needs
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a nursing assistant course.
• Current California Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
• Valid Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
