Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology (IT) provides leadership and oversight of all technology operations within the District, aligning IT strategy with organizational goals and patient care needs. This role manages the full scope of IT infrastructure, systems, applications, and cybersecurity to ensure operational efficiency, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

The Director is responsible for supervising IT staff, overseeing clinical and business systems — including Electronic Health Records (EHR) / Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), pharmacy, and radiology applications — managing vendor relationships, and ensuring system security and reliability. Key responsibilities include driving digital transformation initiatives, leading IT projects, managing budgets, and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Serving as a technical liaison between IT, hospital leadership, and clinical staff, the Director ensures technology supports patient safety, operational excellence, and innovation. This position operates under minimal supervision, working from broad organizational objectives with authority limited only by District policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Direct, supervise, and evaluate IT operations and staff.

Oversee the planning, upgrades, and security of IT infrastructure and applications.

Ensure reliable operation of clinical and enterprise systems including EHR/EMR, PACS, LIS, pharmacy, and radiology applications.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, CCPA, CMS, Title 22, and Joint Commission standards.

Lead cybersecurity operations, including incident response, monitoring, and risk management.

Manage vendor contracts, service level agreements, and IT purchasing.

Develop and manage the IT budget, reporting regularly to the CIO and executive leadership.

Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to ensure IT systems meet patient care and operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field required.

Seven (7) years of progressively responsible IT experience, with at least three (3) years in healthcare IT leadership.

Direct experience with EHR/EMR, PACS, LIS, and other healthcare systems.

Prior supervisory experience required.

Licensure/Certifications (Preferred/Desirable):
ITIL, CPHIMS, or CHCIO certification preferred.
Cybersecurity certification (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent) desirable.

Master’s degree preferred.
