Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Plant Operations Manager, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and facility support functions throughout District facilities.

This position performs building and grounds maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility systems and equipment. Responsibilities range from general maintenance and carpentry work to assisting with the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, emergency power, fire alarm, and other building systems.

The Maintenance Worker plays an important role in maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of facility equipment, buildings, and grounds.

Maintain and repair electrical and gas-powered equipment.

Assist with maintenance and repair of emergency generators, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, and fire alarm systems.

Perform general carpentry, painting, and building repair tasks.

Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections throughout District facilities.

Assist with maintenance and repair of medical equipment as assigned.

Support facility security efforts and assist with security surveillance activities.

Serve as a Fire Drill Leader and assist with emergency preparedness activities.

Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance machinery safely and effectively.

Identify, diagnose, and correct equipment malfunctions and facility maintenance issues.

Maintain maintenance records and communicate repair needs to supervisors.

Comply with District policies, infection prevention standards, quality assurance expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative departments to support safe and efficient facility operations.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid California Driver's License required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, mechanical repair, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems preferred.

Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance testing equipment.

Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs to building systems and equipment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with staff, patients, visitors, and contractors.
