Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Plant Operations Manager, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of maintenance, repair, and facility support functions throughout District facilities.

This position is responsible for performing building and grounds maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs involving facility equipment and infrastructure. Responsibilities range from general maintenance and carpentry work to assisting with the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, emergency generator, fire alarm, and related building systems.

The Maintenance Worker plays an important role in maintaining a safe, functional, and efficient healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and staff while supporting compliance with safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform building and grounds maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair activities throughout District facilities.

Maintain and repair electrical and gas-powered equipment.

Assist with maintenance and repair of emergency generators, heating and cooling systems, plumbing systems, fire alarm systems, and related facility infrastructure.

Perform carpentry, painting, and general building repair tasks.

Assist with maintenance and repair of medical equipment as assigned.

Conduct safety inspections and identify facility maintenance concerns requiring corrective action.

Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and related equipment malfunctions.

Serve as a Fire Drill Leader and assist with emergency preparedness activities.

Assist with security-related issues and security surveillance activities as assigned.

Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance machinery safely and effectively.

Maintain maintenance records and communicate repair needs, project updates, and equipment concerns to supervisors.

Comply with District policies, infection prevention standards, quality assurance expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Work collaboratively with management, medical staff, patients, visitors, contractors, and coworkers to support safe and efficient facility operations.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid California Driver's License required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, mechanical repair, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems preferred.

Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance testing equipment.

Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs to building systems and equipment.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with staff, patients, visitors, and contractors.
