Physical Therapy Aide - Inpatient
I. Job Summary:
Administers physical therapy treatment under the direction of and as an assistant to the registered physical therapist. Performs selected patient treatments under the general supervision of supervising Physical Therapist, Manager of Clinical Services or his/her designee. Has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction and evaluation of supportive staff utilized in the department. Prepares patients and equipment for treatment, helps perform the house keeping duties and regular equipment maintenance of the department. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required.

Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programs designed to increase, maintain or restore function, minimize or prevent disability, and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels.

Provides information and training to patients, and/or family and caregiver as needed, and/or as part of discharge planning.

II. Minimum Qualifications:
A. Education
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent

B. Experience
1. Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a diverse background specific to discipline; prefer one to two years experience in a rehabilitation setting.

C. Licensure / Certifications / Registrations
1. Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification (CPR).

D. Essential Skills
1. Possess knowledge of principles and practices, concepts, and methodology of Physical Therapy Aide work.
2. Possess knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans.
3. Ability and competency in techniques of handling patients in a safe and efficient manner.
4. Possess knowledge of pertinent State, Federal and local laws, rules, regulations relating to physical therapy services required in hospital and home health setting.
5. Ability to handle stressful situations in professional manner.
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
7. Ability to recognize role as a consultant / facilitator to staff.
8. Knowledge of teaching.
9. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
10. Ability to write legibly, spell correctly, and communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
11. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
12. Ability to operate modern office equipment.
13. Ability to and competent in operation of exercise equipment, and cleaning agents and methods of care of equipment.
14. Ability to establish and maintain effective departmental and interdepartmental relationships with personnel, physicians, and patients and their families in varied settings.
Hourly Wage: $20.89 - $25.87 per/hour
